In two hours, learn how to make a slip knot, cast on, and knit.

Hyperbolic Crochet!

Back by popular demand! For two hundred years, mathematicians have struggled to create 3-D models of hyperbolic geometry. It turns out that with a hook, yarn, and a wise instructor, these mind-bending shapes can be realized through the art of crochet. David Orozco, formerly of That Yarn Shop, will teach you the concept and technique of Hyperbolic Crochet, where yarn, math, and the universe meet. Materials sold seperately.

Flat Felting w/ Coleen Ryan

Learn how to create beautiful, multi-colored flat sheets of felt using wool roving and the technique of wet felting, which can then be shaped, cut into pieces, or turned into a piece of art in itself. This process is simple, meditative, and completely creative. Materials are included in class price. Taught by felter extaordinaire Coleen Ryan.

*CRAFTING FOR A CAUSE*

The last Sunday of every month from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. we make stuff for those in need. The class is free, and you will receive a 15% discount on yarn purchased for charitable projects. Pre-register for these classes by email, calling the shop, or stopping by. If you can't take the class, you can still come pick up a pattern and purchase yarn at the discount, and then drop your finished project off here when you're done.

July 25th: Stitches from the Heart: Booties! Learn how to knit baby booties, whatever level knitter you are. Booties will be donated to Stitches from the Heart, a Santa Monica-based organization that helps impoverished premature babies all over the US. Learn more about Stitches from the Heart here.

Materials needed: 1 ball soft machine washable yarn in a dk or fingering weight, size 5, 6, or 7 straight needles, jumbo darning needle.

June 27th: Stitches From The Heart - Join us to knit adorable baby pixie hats for Stitches from the Heart, a Santa Monica-based organization that helps impoverished premature babies all over the US. Learn more about Stitches from the Heart here.

March 28th: Knots of Love - Learn how to knit or crochet a soft washable cap for someone undergoing cancer treatment at one of 30 different Cancer treatment centers in Los Angeles. Learn more about Knots of Love.

February 28th: Hugs for Haiti - Come to our square knit-in! We'll be knitting all kinds of 8x8" squares to donate to Hugs for Haiti, which will then be assembled into blankets for World Care's Haitian Earthquake Relief. Learn more about World Care.
